Are we settling in for a season of merger mania? Over the past several days, speculation has underway that US satellite TV providers DIRECTV and Echostar, which owns DISH Network, would be hooking up. The two companies tried to get together in 2002, but US government regulators rejected the deal over antitrust concerns.
