After five years Hyperion announces the availability of AmigaOS 4.0:
"Amiga OS 4.0 is the most stable, modern and feature-rich incarnation to date of the multi-media centric operating system launched by Commodore Business Machines (CBM) in 1985 with which it still retains a high degree of compatibility." But there is a snag: the new OS supports only the AmigaOne, which is not available anymore. According to Hyperion, the new hardware platform will be announced by third parties early 2007.

Palm Inc, formerly known as PalmOne, formerly known as Palm Inc., announced today it is buying a perpetual license for the Palm OS from Access, a company that bought PalmSource last year which owned the license after splitting with Palm Inc in 2003, for $44 million.
So in essence Palm Inc. is paying $44 million to buy back a
technology it gave away three years ago...
With Palm Inc. already running both the Windows Mobile OS and Palm OS one has to wonder if either sales of the Windows version are not going well or despite the best...

A panel of experts in China has approved a computer operating system for servers developed in the country.
The Kylin operating system, developed by China's University of Science and Technology for National Defense, was approved by a panel of experts from the state 863 Hi-tech Research and Development Program office, Xinhua, China's official government-run news agency, reported Monday.
