I've always known deep down that bluray was going to be the winner (on account that they have more exclusive titles).

I have confirmed that the pc will recognize the player and movie files on an HD-DVD disc via the xbox hd player. The problem is that I did not have any software that will play back the HD movie. Fortunately, Cyberlink's movie player now supports hd or bluray - unfortunately it costs $100 for the software!
Still, it's pretty cool and cheap if you consider that a normal standalone player will cost about $500.

Toshiba has announced a new 51GB HD-DVD Rom disc at this year's CES.
Beating Blu-ray by 1GB, Toshiba today said that they had successfully created a triple layer HD-DVD disc that could contain 51GB worth of data with 17GB on each layer.

Let's face it, the porn industry drives innovation. Porn drove the VHS market and it also drove broadband internet - it will surely drive the next generation of movie format, which it has chosen as HD-DVD at the recent porn convention (that followed the big CES 2007). Today 20 firms -- representing 97 percent of the DVD manufacturers in the country -- displayed 80 players and announced plans to switch from DVD to the new format exclusively by 2008. The format war around next generation DVDs may be over before it has begun, thanks to a breakthrough from a British media technology company.

The solution is surprisingly low-tech: the user simply hit the PrintScreen key. The screen capture feature of the operating system allowed each frame to be digitally captured exactly as it was displayed on-screen.
