Embracing a media technology once feared by commercial television as the industry's boogeyman, the CBS network has teamed up with TiVo Inc. to help promote its new fall shows.
In a first-of-its-kind deal between one of the Big Three U.S. broadcasters and the leading maker of digital video recorders (DVRs), TiVo users will be able to watch the pilot episode of CBS's upcoming sitcom "The Class" a full week before its prime-time premiere.

In a sudden twist of events, a Washington D.C. court has allowed the continued use of DISH PVRs, sold by EchoStar Communications.
"We are pleased that this morning, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. temporarily blocked an injunction issued by a Texas Court, while it considers a longer-term stay of that injunction," EchoStar said in a statement.
The ruling was the latest in an ongoing battle between TiVo, one of earlist companies to design personal video recorders, now called digital video recorders or DVRS.
