This one is getting passed around pretty quickly, but as he retires from Microsoft, I couldn't resist highlighting this fantastic internal email from 2003 from Bill Gates complaining about the usability of some Windows features.

Bill Gates appearance on the Daily Show promoting Microsoft Windows Vista and discussing IPTV, jetpacks, and robots.
In a remarkable declaration earlier this week, the Department of Homeland Security--a bureaucracy set up to deal with stuff that generally falls under the category of national emergency--called on all users of Windows software to install a new security patch issued by Microsoft.
This wasn't your garden variety flaw. The fear in Washington was a repeat of something like the chaos caused by the MSBlast worm in 2003.

Microsoft said Wednesday a Norwegian journalist fabricated an interview with Bill Gates.
The interview, printed in the Norwegian magazine Mann and top-selling Swedish tabloid daily Aftonbladet, was "totally fake," said Eirik Lae Solberg, spokesman for Microsoft Norway.
In the four-page interview entitled "Big Bill," author Bjoern Benkow claimed he spoke to Gates during a two-hour commercial flight in Europe.

Microsoft chief says 80 percent chance new OS software will be available.
"We've got to get this absolutely right," Gates said. "If the feedback from the beta tests shows it is not ready for prime time, I'd be glad to delay it." He said Microsoft was investing $8 billion to $9 billion in developing Vista and the company's next version of Office, its key cash-generator. He said the company's software partners, in developing and adapting their own products for the two launches, would invest 20 times as much as Microsoft.
