The US-based business intelligence research firm Intelegencia on Sunday said that it would focus on the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector to help companies cut cost and brave the heat of the global financial downturn.

“We will help customers especially those classified as small and medium enterprises in cost reduction and revenue improvement,” said President and CEO of Intelegencia, Mr Perry D Chaturvedi.

The Atlanta-based data mining and research firm, run primarily by non-resident Indians, has already opened an office in India to help SMEs hit badly by the global financial meltdown and is drawing plans to expand operations.

The firm has been supporting various leading North American entities in sectors like telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and banking, mr Chaturvedi said, adding, “We would be working closely with Indian clients and help them reduce operatin g cost and also venture abroad through market research and product launch initiatives.”

In addition to consolidating operations in India and the Middle-East, he said, the firm was pursuing strategic expansion plans in major markets such as Canada, Europe and Africa during 2009 and 2010.
